ISSUE: Rental property owners were a fractured group with different political advisors pursuing different strategies against a common enemy: Rent Control.
IMPACT: We developed a winning messaging strategy, effectively used digital advertising to deliver particular messages to different sub-groups, and unified the differing property-owner factions behind a single strategic approach.
RESULTS: On election the initiative failed with over a shocking 60 percent of the vote.
ISSUE: We were tasked with persuading the Legislature to initiate corrective action after legislators and the press largely ignored a State Auditor’s report that our clients hoped would spur reforms.
IMPACT: We deployed digital media and advocacy to revive the audit and focus attention to the issue, such that the Legislature:
- Conducted hearings
- Interrogated agency leaders
- Implemented policy and operational changes
RESULTS: The reforms sought by our client were adopted, and they were able to expedite licensing without affecting their relationship with the regulatory agency.
ISSUE: Our client approached us late in the process after repeated unsuccessful attempts to secure amendments in the face of powerful opposition. The measure had already passed the first house and was publicly endorsed by legislative leadership in the second house.
IMPACT: We launched immediately, devising impactful messages in a matter of days and delivered them through focused digital communications channels that:
- Changed the public conversation
- Connected with powerful influencers
- Drove amendments to the bill
RESULTS: Our client’s amendments were signed into law.
